Cocamidopropyl betaine, is a plant-derived (usually coconut) or synthetic fatty acid that acts as a surfactant that easily bonds with pollutants, making their removal much easier. In cleansers, cocamidopropyl betaine is combined with another cleansing agent, as it is too mild to be used alone and won’t cleanse the skin properly. It also helps increase the lathering effect of cleansers.

Ethylhexylglycerin is used in skincare products as a skin conditioner, and has mild humectant properties that can boost skin hydration without leaving a greasy or sticky feel. In addition to this, ethylhexylglycerin has the ability to expand the capabilities of preservatives and can itself be used as a co-preservative.
